Ho Wood is also known as true camphor and is native to eastern Asia. Recently, through global distribution and popularity, it can also be found in Australia, the United States and Africa and fares best in oceanic areas with warm climates. It sports a large, tall tree with sprawling branches and a rough, scaly bark that produces a strong odor. Its woody and floral scent, marked by hints of camphor, makes this one of the most actively-harvested plants. Though many are unfamiliar with the name “ho wood,” it is one of the most recognizable scents because of its close similarities to camphor. It shares many of the health benefits of camphor, including its high linalool content, which makes it particularly effective for stimulating skin and cell growth and acting as a bacterial and pest repellant.
